IN-SCHOOL PROGRAMS
In an effort to help bridge the gap in academic achievement by using music to boost emotional health and scholastic outcomes in under-resourced schools, the JAZZ HOUSE Music Scholars Program serves public and charter schools across New Jersey with jazz education and ensemble classes taught by JAZZ HOUSE teaching artists. Among the schools we serve in Newark are LINK Community Charter School, John F. Kennedy School, Arts High School, Science Park High School, Oliver Street School and East Side High School. In the Paterson Public School District, we are returning to Senator Frank Lautenberg School 6 and launching a brand-new program for students at Roberto Clemente School. In addition, we are returning with a 26 session JAZZ HOUSE Residency at School 24/Fine and Performing Arts Program serving instrumental and vocal students. Our return and expansion to the Paterson Public School District has reached over 800 students through community concerts, recruitment initiatives, and instrument fairs. Starting later this fall is our Jazz Explorers program with Riza Printup in the Montclair Community Pre-K and our entry into Jersey City at the Dr. Lena Edwards Academic Charter School.

RESIDENCIES
Our world-class vocal and instrumental teaching artists mentor choirs and instrumental ensembles for a few weeks, months or the entire school year!
GIVE AN INSTRUMENT, BUILD A MUSICIAN
Through our Give An Instrument, Build a Musician Fund, we place instruments in the hands of kids sitting on the sidelines and enable them to join their school bands. In fact, we provide more than $50,000 in instruments to students annually, as well as master classes to further boost their abilities and interest.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
JAZZ HOUSE KiDS concerts, assemblies and workshops bring students concise, entertaining and exciting introductions to jazz – not just the music, but also its history, culture and place in America’s story.
