Weather’s getting chilly out there, but it’s getting HOT at the Jazz House, as our semester classes have kicked into full swing!
Close to 140 students between the ages of 8-18 have jumped into the jazz “shed” this year to take part in one of three big bands, numerous small combos, the Vocal Jazz Academy and our Emerging Musicians Community Concerts Program (EMC2). It’s serious business, but it’s not “all work and no play!” In between rehearsal sessions, our students hang out with fellow musicians and, sometimes, with SUPERSTARS! Just last week, our Artistic Director and bass extraordinaire Christian McBride brought along another world-class bassist for a visit to the Jazz House: Edgar Meyer, a critically acclaimed classical bassist, multi-instrumentalist and composer. Now, that’s a lot of bass in the House!
