Dust off your instrument and join our swingin’ JAZZ HOUSE ADULT Combo! Perfect for part-time players, former boppers, instrumentalists new to jazz or seasoned veterans returning to their roots. Develop technique and improvisational skills needed to strengthen musicianship and prepare for live performance. Take your playing to another level!
COMMUNITY BIG BAND
Sunday, 6:00 – 8:00 pm | Instructor: Ed Palermo
Returning with renewed passion and enthusiasm this summer is our adult JAZZ HOUSE Community Big Band, led by the charismatic Ed Palermo. Open to students of all levels, Palermo uses custom arrangements, from big band swing to the music of Frank Zappa, to complement the talents of each performer.

2 Sessions: Beginner + Advanced
Enter the world of music analysis and jazz improvisation! Rooted in the bebop tradition while always looking ahead, musicians will explore new territory using techniques of leading jazz performers.
1 Core Class: $450 | 2 Core Classes: $900 | 3 Core Classes $1,150 + 1 FREE Elective
- Individuals registering for all 3 Adult Core class, may also take any 1 Elective class listed below for FREE.
7 WEEKS JUNE 7 – JULY 23*

In this class students will explore the essential recording and production techniques necessary to create their own songs. In an ever increasing ‘do-it-yourself’ environment, musicians who are able to produce their own material certainly have a leg up!
Wednesday 4:00 – 5:30 PM ET | Instructor: Alexis Cuadrado
Calling all movie buffs! Learn the musical secrets behind your favorite films and compose your own melodies to real film sequences using motifs, harmony and various stylistic approaches.
Thursday 4:00 – 5:30 PM ET | Instructor: Alvester Garnett
This class is a MUST for all drummers, percussionists and musicians interested in exploring a world of rhythmic possibilities.

Beginner to Intermediate
The essential element to jazz music is improvisation! Let’s learn to do it in a safe and comfortable environment from your own home. From pentatonic scales to call and response to ear training to learning melodies, this class will get you prepared for playing solos at jam sessions, in ensembles.
Registration Fee: $25
1 Elective: $270 | 2 Electives: $540 | 3+ Electives: $700
- Individuals registering for all 3 Adult Core class, may take any 1 Elective class for FREE.
There is a 100% refund (less the $125 initial deposit & registration fee) until May 10. The $25 Registration Fee will be applied to any future program at the JAZZ HOUSE in fall 2021.
There are no refunds beyond May 10.
COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS
Each in-person session will adhere to the highest safety protocols recommended by current CDC and State of New Jersey Department of Health guidelines, including:
- Student temperatures taken upon entering the building
- All students are required to wear face coverings and/or instrument face masks
- Smaller class sizes to allow for social distancing
- All students positioned six feet apart at a minimum
- Frequent use of hand sanitizer recommended
- Bell covers required + saxophone bags suggested
- Classrooms thoroughly sanitized between
