CELEBRATiNG 15 YEARS OF SWiNGiNG DOORS OPEN!
OCTOBER 24, 2017: A date that has gone down in JAZZ HOUSE history! We hit the high notes and all the right notes at our 15th anniversary celebration at NJPAC. Led by our musical director, CHRISTIAN MCBRIDE, the evening was a powerful night of storytelling, highlighting our growing legacy. Our celebrated artists – DAVID SANBORN, ANDRA DAY, SHEILA E. and KENNY BARRON gave so generously of their time to join us and show us why they are the best.
Our audience opened up their hearts, and their support allows us to continue the thriving legacy of JAZZ HOUSE KiDS. Every day, we strive to broaden the definition of who gets to be on stage to tell their story, address the lack of access and equity from under-resourced communities and populations, and create a cultural movement that celebrates each child’s unique voice through inclusion and diversity.

We honored our living legends, ROY HAYNES and McCOY TYNER, thanked the many people who have helped this organization impact thousands of young people and recognized our student award winners.
EMERGiNG MUSiCiANS
We were bursting with pride as our talented emerging musicians took to the stage for one great performance after another and for the JAZZ HOUSE ALUMNi BAND, a group of talented young musicians now scattered across the country who found their musical chops at the JAZZ HOUSE, as well as a second home.
The evening ended with a show-stopper finale with all our artists. Huge thanks to our incredible guest artists, student musicians, and wonderful audience. What a way to celebrate 15 years of JAZZ HOUSE KiDS swinging doors open through music, mentoring, education and apprenticeship!
