JAZZ IN JUNE: The Music Continues… Join Us!

Write your first tune! Produce! Get your repertoire together! Each workshop session is designed to give students a jump in their musicianship on and off the bandstand. Classes open to students ages 10 to 18 from across the region and around the globe.

Learn to play and memorize essential tunes and repertoire, getting you ready for the gig! This session provides the foundation for a student to start playing social and professional engagements, in person or virtually!

This fun and engaging workshop takes players through the stages of getting their repertoire and gig etiquette together. All instrumentalists are welcome!

“Louis Armstrong” Piano Intensive
Tuesdays • June 1-25

For jazz pianists and improvisers, this core session will help you expand your piano technique, ensemble and solo playing by exploring fundamental concepts of chord voicings, hand independence, improvisational approaches and a vast variety of pianistic tools for your shed!

Learn to unlock your true artistic voice through composition. Get started on your own creative path now! This session will end with a recording of your new music! All levels welcome, two sessions offered.

The Essential Singer Sessions

Get your vocal chops in shape with this new sing-a-long jazz session. Gain the essential tools to take your singing to the next level, front your own band, and one day lead your own gigs.

In this class you will explore the essential recording and production techniques necessary to create your own songs. In an ever increasing ‘do-it-yourself’ environment, musicians who are able to produce their own material certainly have a leg up!

  • Laptop
  • Midi Keyboard (ie: Akai LPK25 $50)
  • Free DAW Software (Protools First, Garage Band)

*Optional materials

  • Audio Interface (ie: Focusrite Scarlett Solo $110)
  • Microphone (ie: Audio Technica AT2020 $100)
  • Microphone Cable
  • Headphones (ie: Sennheiser HD280PRO $100)

STUDENT PLACEMENT:

Current JAZZ HOUSE students do not need to submit a video. New students should prepare and submit a video audition according to the Audition Process guidelines.

*Note all students must submit an audition video for JAZZ IN JULY.
