The Vocal Summit Jazz Residency immerses students in the world of vocal performance. Jazz House Kids teaching artists conduct intensive choral classes in collaboration with school music instructors. By the time the program ends, students have gained an understanding of the basic principles of jazz, vocal development and live performance, and developed essential work habits and life skills.
Residencies can last anywhere from a few weeks to an entire semester. The residency culminates with a concert featuring the students and their professional teaching artists.
Our Vocal Summit Jazz Residency has been held at the John F. Kennedy School and Link Community Charter School, both in Newark.
