DESCRIPTION:ABOUT CAELAN CARDELLO\nBorn and raised in Teaneck\, NJ\, Caelan Cardello has been playing piano since the age of 5. He grew up studying jazz and classical separately\, and was performing professionally by the age of 16. He attended JAZZ HOUSE KiDS for 7 years\, and was given opportunities to learn from the greatest jazz mentors and play on stages like Dizzy’s Club\, The Jazz Standard\, and the MONTCLAIR JAZZ FESTIVAL. Caelan has performed with Christian McBride\, Joe Farnsworth\, Jimmy Cobb\, Cecile McLorin Salvant and Rufus Reid\, to name a few. He was selected as one of 5 finalists in the prestigious 2023 American Pianists Association Jazz competition. Caelan graduated from William Paterson University with a bachelors in Jazz Performance in 2022 and now is getting his masters degree at the Juilliard School. DESCRIPTION:About Isaiah J. Thompson\nIsaiah J. Thompson is the winner of the 2023 American Pianists Awards and the Cole Porter Fellowship in Jazz of the American Pianists Association. Originally from West Orange\, New Jersey\, the pianist\, bandleader and composer began studying at The Calderone School of Music from an early age. Soon after\, Isaiah continued his studies with Jazz House Kids and NJPAC Jazz For Teens and was later admitted to The Juilliard School graduating with both his Bachelor’s in 2019 and Master’s of Music degrees in 2020. \nIsaiah has performed with major artists\, including Ron Carter\, John Pizzarelli\, Christian McBride\, Cécile McLorin Salvant\, Steve Turre and Buster Williams. His recording debut was featured on Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Blue Engine Records’ Handful of Keys album with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis\, and he has since released multiple recordings as a leader. \nHe worked on the Golden Globe nominated soundtrack for Motherless Brooklyn\, was named a Steinway Artist and has been awarded other accolades including\, the 2018 Lincoln Center Emerging Artist Award\, and second place in the 2018 Thelonious Monk Competition. DESCRIPTION:Featuring: Alvester Garnett (main act)\, Jazz House Adult Ensemble (opening act)\n\nAlvester Garnett\nAlvester Garnett is an American jazz drummer who\, among many other productions\, has appeared on Great Performances on PBS in a tribute to Kurt Weill. Garnett has played with Abbey Lincoln\, Betty Carter\, Regina Carter\, Clark Terry\, Pharoah Sanders\, Dee Dee Bridgewater\, Teddy Edwards\, James Carter\, Cyrus Chestnut\, Charenee Wade\, Lou Donaldson\, Benny Golson\, Al Grey\, Rodney Jones\, and Sherman Irby\, among others. \n\n\nJazz House Adult Ensemble\n\nThe Jazz House Adult Ensemble is comprised of adult performers–part-time players\, former boppers\, instrumentalists new to jazz or seasoned veterans returning to their roots. Students develop technique and improvisational skills needed to strengthen musicianship for strong live performances.\n\nAbout JAZZ HOUSE @ THE ANNEX\nWelcome to the newest jazz club in town — JAZZ in the Annex! Every third Thursday of the month\, the JAZZ HOUSE @ Montclair (NJ) presents a new monthly jazz gig featuring a performance of some of our favorite regional artists followed by a two-hour jam session where all musicians are welcome. Bring your instruments and come check it out! \nLocation: JAZZ HOUSE Annex\, 2nd floor of JAZZ HOUSE KiDS | Main entrance is through the rear parking lot on North Willow near Bloomfield Avenue. Discover what you can also do at over 35 NYC cultural and community organizations. \nDoors open at 5 pm. Teens Take The Met! is free and open to all teens 13+ with a middle or high school ID. Just show up or RSVP now to get a free ticket to beat the line. If you’re a chaperone who’d like to come with a group of 10 or more teens\, please email teenprograms@metmuseum.org for instructions. \nView the schedule in English. \nA schedule of events will also be available in Spanish. \nThis event will be photographed\, filmed\, and/or recorded.
