Christian McBride’s story shows how Jazz House KiDS gives young musicians an authentic, hands-on experience with music alongside some of the finest professional musicians and educators. Students learn more than how to play—they develop listening, teamwork, empathy, confidence, and the ability to find their own voice. McBride emphasizes that great musicians play with conviction, take risks, learn from mistakes, and gradually make the music their own. What began as a small program has grown into a thriving community where young musicians perform, learn, and become part of something much bigger than themselves. At its heart, Jazz House KiDS is about passing music from one generation to the next while helping young people discover their creativity, confidence, and place in a community.
